Prior to the start of the 2010 walk, I had the good fortune to walk past the above poster ad. The image of Michael J Fox and the clever tagline were perfect reminders of why I went to New York. There is plenty of theory that when the cure is discovered it will be in large part the result of what the folks at Fox funded. Nobody questions the resolve of that organization. I use the photo here because anyone with an interest in Parkinson’s should become familiar with the work of Michael J Fox. But more pointedly, the tagline on optimism is why it is the banner headline here. I hope you will find optimism laced within these pages.
My resolve is to remain optimistic and to “pass it on.”
Mike’s Walk is about raising awareness, and helping those who have Parkinson’s live better lives while waiting for a breakthrough on the cure. The Wii therapy described in these pages is one such method Mike’s Walk will fund. Other pages illustrate how the face of the disease is changing. The video essay on the walk tells a story of hope. It is about optimism, indeed.
Pass it on!
